FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Common questions from landowners and developers about building in light gauge steel.
What is light gauge steel framing?
It is a building system that uses cold-formed, galvanised steel sections (studs, tracks and joists) assembled into wall, floor and roof panels. The frame is then insulated, lined and clad like any other home.
Do you only work on sites with planning permission?
We focus on sites that are consented or close to consent. If your application is still being decided, we can still prepare an indicative estimate so you are ready to move.
Will a steel frame change how my approved scheme looks?
No. The steel frame sits behind the external finish, so brick slip, render, timber-effect or composite cladding can match your approved elevations.
Is steel framing sustainable?
Steel is fully recyclable, and factory manufacture helps to reduce waste on site.
What about fire safety and Building Regulations?
Steel is non-combustible. Every scheme’s wall, floor and roof build-ups are designed and specified to meet the Building Regulations, including the fire and structural requirements.
What do you need to prepare an estimate?
Your decision notice, approved plans and elevations, the conditions schedule, any s106 agreement and a site location plan.
Is the estimate free?
Yes. Estimates are indicative and free, with no obligation. A fixed price follows a full technical design.
Which areas do you cover?
We work across Surrey, Kent, Essex, London and the South East.
